Tour of Spain 2003 – Stage 4

September 9, 2003 – Today's stage of the Tour of Spain was won by Unai Etxebarria (Euskaltel-Euskadi) who took stage four, a 151 km race from Santander to Burgos, beating his own teammate David Etxebarria (Euskaltel) by 44 seconds, with Félix Cárdenas (Labarca-2 Café Baqué) in third. The break of eight got clear with 100k to go and saw ONCE's Isidro Nozal take overthe lead, finishing 6th today.

Canada's Michael Barry (USPS) said the work was cut out for his Postal teammates, as the squad chased hard to bring back the break to a safe distance. “It was a fast day – another shorter stage but fast nonetheless. But the team rode well today.”  Barry added that it was “very nervous due to a strong tailwind.”
