September 6, 2003 (Gijon, Spain) – Powerhouse ONCE-Eroski has once again shown they are king of the team time trial, taking today's Vuelta d'Espana opener over USPS by 10 seconds. The win means that Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano (ONCE-Eroski) will wear the leader's jersey tomorrow, with his other eight teammates taking the next spots in the G.C. Canada's Michael Barry's USPS had a good start to the TTT, with the USPS blue train powering hard in the closing kilometers to make up for a slow start.
