Tour of Pakistan 2007 – Stage 10

March 16, 2007 (Karachi, Pakistan) — The lastest news is that Canada’s Matt Usborne has won yesterday’s Stage 10, 153-km road race from Gujrat to Rawalpindi, at the 13th Tour de Pakistan International Cycle Race (TPICR) “in another fantastic display of cycling” according to an Associated Press of Pakistan report.

Usborne, who also won Stage 7 on Sunday, March 11, led the main pack in a sprint to the line, finishing eight seconds ahead of Stage 9 winner, Robin Read of New Zealand. Usborne completed the job in 4:12:50, while Kiwi Justin Kerr was the third to cross the line in 4:13:2.

Tomorrow is the last day of the highly intense 13th Tour de Pakistan International Cycle Race. Starting from Mazar-e-Quaid here on March 4, the cyclists have been covering a gruelling distance of 1,648 km with the 11th and last stage terminating in Peshawar along main G.T. Road.

Breaking News!! March 16th
The final stage of the 2007 Tour of Pakistan has been postponed, possibly cancelled due to riots in the streets. Canada’s Larry Zimich, who had hoped to make up time after suffering from flats in the last two stages, reported that he is “disappointed about the wait.” With team mates Matt Usborne and Scott Laliberte the next race for the Canadians may be the Tour of Islamabad, a 3-stage event scheduled to begin on March 23rd.
