April 30, 2003 – Canadian GeneviÔ¹ve Jeanson of the RONA/Esker cycling team
took the lead at the first stage of the Tour of the Gila in New Mexico.
Jeanson has a 1:27 lead over her fellow Canadian Manon Jutras of Team
Saturn.

Today's stage was a 25.3k time trial, and the racers had to deal not only
with a challenging course (more than 8 km of climbing) but with very strong
winds as well. Jeanson completed the stage in 40 minutes flat, at an average
speed of 37.95 km/h.
