April 2, 2010 (Brugge, Belgium) – The 94th edition of the legendary Tour of Flanders takes place on Easter Sunday, with a stacked list of competitors. The planet’s best riders will contest the event, with the pro men taking on a 261.9km course from Brugge to Ninove. Defending champ Stijn Devolder (Bel) Quick Step, Tom Boonen (Bel) Quick Step, Sylvain Chavanel (Fra) Quick Step, Philippe Gilbert (Bel) Omega Pharma-Lotto who was 3rd last year, Lance Armstrong (USA) Radioshack, and Fabian Cancellara (Sui) Saxo Bank are all on the start list, plus Canucks Michael Barry (Can) Team Sky, Svein Tuft (Can) Garmin-Transitions, Dominique Rollin (Can) Cervélo TestTeam.
On the women’s side, the second UCI World Cup of the season will see the world’s fastest ladies contest a challenging 139km route from Oudenaarde to Ninove. Heavy hitters include Ina Teutenberg (Ger) HTC-Columbia, Judith Arndt (Ger), Kirsten Wild (Ned) Cervélo TestTeam, and Marianne Vos (Ned) Nederland Bloeit. No Canadians are entered, but American Team TIBCO-To The Top managed by Canada’s Linda Jackson will compete.
