April 6, 2003 – Lotto-Domo's Peter Van Petegem won the 87th Tour of
Flanders by outsprinting Frank Vandenbroucke (Quick.Step-Davitamon). With
16K remaining the pair of Belgians broke away from a 12- rider lead
group. Van Petegem was too strong in the final sprint and easily
took Vandenbroucke. Aussie Stuart O'Grady (Credit Agricole) led the break
in for third. Van Petegem makes a bold statement that he is back, by
taking his first victory of the season in one of the biggest one-day
classics of  the year.
