March 26, 2005 – Plans for the first-ever Tour of California, an 8-stage, 1,100 km stage race were announced yesterday at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California, near the site of the Track Worlds 2005. The new race was announced now hoping to capitalize on the huge media blitz that’s already in place in Carson to cover the Track Worlds 2005.

The new event will start in northern California and end in the south. Much hope is being placed on this event to become the USA’s national stage race, trumping the Tour of Georgia to become the country’s premier stage race. Tentative race dates and stage details will be announced soon.
