February 24, 2007 (Santa Barbara, CA) — Stage 6, Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita 169.6km road race begins at 11 am local time (2 pm EST) and could be a pivotal stage for the 2007 Amgen Tour of California as it’s one of the longest stages with plenty of climbing including four KOMs, two sprints, and a demanding finishing circuit in Santa Clarita.

Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team is still in control with Levi Leipheimer (USA) winning the ITT yesterday and increasing his overall over Jens Voigt (Ger) Team CSC in second place to 21 seconds while Jason McCartney (USA) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team is in third at 0.54.

The Balcom Canyon is the final tough climb of the day, where last year nearly 10,000 fans were on hand to form a narrow corridor for the riders on this ominous climb. Once over that climb the riders do three circuits in Santa Clarita to the finish line.
