The 174.5km first stage from Kota Bharu to Kuala Berang came down to a bunch sprint in which Canada’s sole entrant, Zach Bell (Can) Kelly Benefits Strategies was present near the front. He finished a respectable 9th. Bell is ranked 13th in the GC.
