February 12, 2004 – Canada's Gordon Fraser (Health Net) is having a great ride so far at the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia, with several top finishes that have given him the lead in the Points Jersey. Pedal caught up with Fraser and asked him how he was doing… 

Pedal: Gord, first things first: where was the duct  tape on your helmet during the TT? 

Fraser:  Yeah, I don't really know about the duct tape thing. Was it an aero issue for the tt?  We had these clear plastic covers for our helmets that Bell make up for us. It cuts down on the space if we were to pack aero helmets for everyone.  

Pedal: You looked pretty good climbing — aren't you supposed to be a sprinter or  something? 

Fraser: My  climbing is ok, and it didn't hurt having it rain on the “Fraser gap” –  hey, I had to defend my turf! 

Pedal: So I guess you be won't be aiming to take the Genting  stage? 

Fraser: Obviously, Genting  is a whole other animal and I will trying to save my legs on the 27 cog to rest up for the last day's criterium.
