Tour de Langkawi CCA Preview

February 3, 2004 – The Canadian National Team will compete in this year's Tour de Langkawi set to take place February 6th – 15th, 2004. Le Tour de Langkawi, a 10-day race, is the official professional cycling tour of Malaysia.

Canadian Cyclists Roland Green and Eric Wohlberg will lead a strong Canadian Team into one of the year's first major mutli-stage races of the season. Dominique Perras, Charles Dionne, Cory Lange, Peter Wedge and Alexandre Lavallee will also represent Canada. Roland Green enters this year's race as the defending 'King of the Mountain' as he took home the Red Polka Dot Jersey in 2003.

The Tour de Langkawi is a 10-stage race with a total distance covering 1,250.9 kilometers. There are two Category Four climbs, one Category Three climb, one Category Two climb, three Category One mountains, one Hors Category mountains and one Individual Time Trial. Participation is restricted to seven riders per team and to date a total of 20 teams (140 riders) are confirmed.

The Canadian Cycling Association, the governing body for cycling, is Canada's oldest sport governing body. Its mission is to lead and support the development and growth of cycling in Canada through programs, leadership development and technical expertise.
