February 11, 2004 – Canada's Peter Wedge normally finds himself riding off-road with the Kona squad, but right now he is riding alongside his fellow Canucks at the Tour de Langkawi. The New Brunswick native had a rough start to the tour, suffering illness, but has bounced back to take a solid ride in the TT and aiming to support Roland Green as he makes his bid to take back some time on the Genting stage. Pedal had a chance to catch up with Wedge.
Pedal: Peter, first things first, what's up with Eric's tape job on his helmet during the TT?
Wedge: Don't even get me started on the helmet thing. All I can say is it's a good thing Eric won, so no one can laugh…
Pedal: You had a pretty good ride in the TT for a sick rider. How does that work?
Wedge: Well, I was sick, but am feeling much better now. We will see how Genting goes, but I am here to ride for Roland, so my GC doesn't really matter so much.
Pedal: How about those Colombians? What are they eating every day for breakfast?
Wedge: Yeah, I don't think the Colombians eat breakfast, maybe that is why they are not fat like us.
Pedal: Your teammate Alex Lavalle must be getting a tad hot with that hair of his. Thoughts?Wedge: As for Lavallee's hair, I bought scissors yesterday and we are going for mullets to be unveiled soon.
Pedal: We'll be waiting, and good luck.
Wedge: Thank you.
