July 19, 2012 (Rivière-Héva, QC) – The numerous curves between Malartic and Rivière-Héva did not frighten the American cyclists, who finished the 51.2km race in 1 hour 5 minutes, thus taking the three first places on the podium. Alexandre Darville from USA National, Miguel Byron from USA Selection A and Owen Logen, also from the USA National Team, crossed the finish line first, followed closely by their American team-mates.

There isn’t a doubt that the Americans lead the competition, with three first places in three stages. After four days of competition, USA National continue their domination by collecting once more the blue, orange and brown jerseys, for best first year, best sprinter and best ranked. There is definitely much talent in the American junior team, who occupy the six first ranks in the general classification after this fourth stage.

The Americans show their superiority at the Individual Time Trial
All the members of USA National stole the spotlight this morning by taking six of the seven first places during the 9.6km Individual Time Trial. Yohan Patry was the only Canadian who managed to land in the top ten, with a gap of 5 seconds on the leader Taylor Eisenhart, who took first place with a time of 12 minutes, 25 seconds. The sinuous path around Lake Osisko was very appreciated by the racers but the challenge it represented did not stop Eisenhart from riding the course at an average speed of 46 km/h.

Tomorrow, the Tour de l’Abitibi returns to Temiscamingue
Tomorrow, the cyclists from the Tour de l’Abitibi will return to the region of Temiscamingue for the Hydro Quebec stage, a first in over fifteen years. The race will start at 2:15 pm in Timiskaming First Nation and will lead the cyclists to the municipalities of Guérin, Béarn and Ville-Marie, before finishing in Lorrainville at around 4:45 pm.
