February 2, 2005 – After a flurry of reports in various Quebec newspapers that the Tour de l’Abitibi might not be returning to the junior international calendar from August 19-25th, the race director, Claude Pagé has said that the towel has not been thrown in yet.

After both the towns of Val d’Or and Rouyn-Noranda have now stated they will not host the event, Pedal learned from Pagé that, “Despite the problems that we are currently facing, the organizing committee has not yet decided to cancel the race.”

Pagé elaborated by saying that the committee is currently working on a “Plan B” to save the race. What that plan is.. .no one quite knows yet. Stay tuned…
