July 18, 2012 (Rimouski, QC) – Here’s part 2 of the Tour de la releve internationale de Rimouski Team Ontario Race Report which began when the team packed their vans and journeyed off for the 15-hour trip to Rimouski Quebec, drive to Quebec City and kept driving for another three hours. The team arrived and met up with the riders from Ottawa in the late afternoon on Tuesday July 10th. The team checked into their accomodations and unpacked their bikes and gear to get ready for the week of hard racing to come – read the rest of Part 1 HERE.
Part 2…
Stage #5, 45 minute Crit. The riders looked a little nervous entering this stage. The women were first to put the pain in the legs, and to add to the excitement the girls would have to think about goaning points as the race directors point a point a lap on offer. Madeliene McConnell was the most aggressive on the stage and won the Red Jersey. A crash on the next to last lap eliminated a couple of girls for the event. Top performers from Ontario included, Bailin Xie (Team Ontario Cadet) 5th overall, Jeremy Lacasse (Team Ontario Cadet) 7th overall.

Stage#6, 55km Road Race. This race included a 1.4k climb with an average grade of 11%, 2 sections of the climb were 16%. This stage was 5 laps of an 11km circuit, in both the boys & girls races the field was shredded on the first climb. The girls event had a break of 2 riders who came accross the line 1 minute ahead of the peleton. In the boys race the final GC contenders were in the final selection of 11 riders who servived to the finish.
The final GC had Adam Jamieson (Team CHCH Cadet) in Yellow, Adam rode very strong during the entire event. Top Ontario riders for this stage were, Marie-Pierre Nadon (Team CHCH Cadet) 11th, Madeliene McConnell (Team CHCH Junior) 21st, Adam Jamieson (Team CHCH Cadet) 3rd on the stage.

This race was an eye opener for many riders in the peleton. The event was very well organized with every rider saying it was a wonderful experience and they can not wait for 2013.
