Tour de Hollander Update

April 1, 2005 – Thanks to the great support of the cycling community, the Tour de Hollander for Sunday April 3rd is a go! We now have enough volunteers to ensure a safe event. The weather looks like it will co-operate as well with the forecast being partly cloudy and 11 degrees with a 20 km/h wind. Also, based on the traffic to the website, there should be large turn-out.

The 11 km loop through the Holland Marsh of King Township is reminiscent of a European Spring Classic, with narrow roads, lots of turns, and very flat and windy.

The schedule includes two start times, with a morning session for the Juniors, U17, Master BCD and Senior 3’s, and an afternoon session for the Women, Master A and Senior 1/2’s. All races have generous distances and a share of a modest prize pool.

Shoeless Joe’s in King City is hosting an after race party. They are offering half price appetizers and Pasta specials. As well, OLN’s coverage of the Tour of Flanders will be on the big screen TV (and 27 other TVs as well).

Thanks, and we hope to see you on the 3rd!
