July 2, 2004 – In the middle of a deluge of drug-related controversies – a
book alleging USA’s Lance Armstrong’s doping practises, Scot David Millar
confessing to using EPO, Spain’s Jesus Manzano recounting widepspread drug
use, Australia’s Mark French being reprimanded for drugs – the Tour de
France, battled and bruised, begins tomorrow. This year’s Tour should be an
incredible race with Lance Amstrong (USPS) ready to lead the challenge for his sixth Tour win,
with strong opposition from Jan Ullrich (T-Mobile), Levi Leipheimer
(Rabobank), Tyler Hamilton (Phonak) and Iban Mayo (Euskatel.)
