Tour De France 2002

July 9, 2002 -Jack Durand (fdJeux.com) took Franck Renier (Bonjour) along for the ride in one of his all-day breakaways today. Durand often fancies long solo rides or small breaks in order to take a stage win or two in his native Tour. But today was not to be — the strong Telekom team worked hard along with the Lotto sqaud to reel in the attackers with less than 5k remaining. From there it was an all-or-nothing drag race to the line, with Australian Champion Robbie McEwen (Lotto-Adecco) took the sprint over Green Jersey Erik Zabel (Telekom) and Australian compatriot Baden Cooke (FDJeux.com). With the 2nd place and time bonus, Zabel now takes the Yellow. The Green Jersey goes to McEwen, who is second to Zabel in points.
