Tour De Blue – Mattamy Homes Raises Over $1million for SickKids!

June 7, 2007 – Since 2005 Peter Gilgan, CEO of Mattamy Homes and founder of the “Tour de Blue” cycling event has focused on raising funds to benefit children from across Canada and worldwide who receive care from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. The 2007 Mattamy Homes Tour de Blue has set a target to raise $500,000 towards an endowment in Pain Management for SickKids putting the total amount raised since 2005 to over $1 million!

This year the event will officially start in Vancouver on June 13 when Peter Gilgan and 7 other avid cyclists relay over 4200 kms in 10 days! Forty additional cyclists will start a 400 km trek in Alliston, ON Saturday, June 23 and meet the cross-country cyclists to cross the finish line at SickKids on June 24th.

The funds raised in the 2007 Mattamy Tour de Blue will provide a foundation for groundbreaking research in pain management, helping SickKids to remain a world leader in children’s health. It is through the hard work, energy and determination of the eager volunteer cyclists that SickKids will be able to learn more about pain management and in turn make the lives of young patients who come from across Canada and worldwide more bearable and comfortable.

Mattamy Homes is committed to meet this target through the generous donations of our corporate sponsors and the participating cyclists the funds raised from the 2006 Mattamy Tour de Blue made a phenomenal difference in the quality of life for the children at SickKids with the renovation of Marnie’s Lounge
