Dec. 7, 2005 (Saint-Georges, Quebec) – The Tour de Beauce, a UCI America Tour event and the most important road cycling stage race in Canada, is happy to announce important organizational changes.
Besides the preparation of its 21st edition which will be held from June 13-18, 2006, the current chairman of the Tour de Beauce board of directors, Mr Guy Laperrière, announced his retirement and will be succeeded by Mr. Luc Fournier. Mr. Laperrière played a major role in the growth of the event and held many important positions within the organization over the years.
Mr Luc Fournier, one of the founders of the Tour de Beauce, is well-known in the tourism, leisure and major event sectors in the Québec City and Beauce-Appalaches regions, and was a member of the Beauce board of directors over the past several years.
Mr. Laperrière and Mr. Fournier are pleased to announce the nomination of Mr. Sylvain Proulx at the general management of the Tour de Beauce. Combining several years of experience as athlete, coach and volunteer in competitive sport, he also had acquired excellent experience in event management and organization.
As he has been working for an important telecommunications company as an account director for the last years, Mr. Proulx will also bring his knowledge of business, sales and marketing to the organization.
According to Mr Laperrière, “Recruiting a general manager at the Tour de Beauce had become a must to strengthen the organization. His nomination had already a very mobilizing effect on the organizing committee which was eagerly waiting for that help. Unceasingly growing challenges in financing twinned with needs for recurrence in the relations with our many public, private and municipal partners will be the priority mandates for Mr Proulx.”
The Tour de Beauce is also happy to announce that the chairmanship of the organizing committee will be held by Mr. Denis Lévesque. As the technical director at the last three editions, the Tour will take advantage of his varied skills and experience. In fact, he has been involved with the Tour de Beauce for thirteen (13) years, including five (5) as chairman of the organizing committee from 1996 to 2000.
