January 29, 2007 – The Total Restoration Cycling Team is proud to announce some exciting news for the 2007 season: a team expansion, from seven to 14 riders, and a new two-year partnership with Specialized Canada.

The team expansion includes two new elite male racers, along with a women’s and junior development squad. In keeping with the team’s dedication to athletes of B.C.’s interior, the new women’s squad includes national team triathlete Gillian Kornell, along with mountain bikers Monica Nelson, and Jennifer Schultz. These women have shown impressive fitness and determination over the past years in their respective disciplines, and are committed to a full road program for 2007.

Similarly, the two new juniors in the lineup are both young and rising Kelowna talents that have shown great potential. Owen Harrison has a mountain biking background, and has recently attended the B.C. Provincial team training camp for athletes with potential to attend the Western Canada Games and Junior World Championships. Alongside Owen will be Alex Van Poppelen, a talented speed skater who has tremendous strength and endurance.

Lastly, the expanded men’s squad welcomes two new riders who are sure to add to the success of last year’s team. Kelowna strong man Carlos Capela alongside Saskatchewan recruit Brad Kerr, will balance out the elite men’s squad. Both riders are a huge asset to the team, and have been on many podiums throughout the “˜06 season. Returning riders are: Cory Forrest, Dan Skinner, Gary Wade, Ryan Smith, Sean Williams, Tim Sherstobitoff and Trevor Haaheim.

The team is excited to announce it will be riding Specialized bikes and apparel for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. “With Specialized being one of the top road bike manufacturers in the world, we couldn’t be happier to be riding their bikes,” said Team Director Cory Forrest. With top professional teams like Quick Step and Gerolsteiner also riding Specialized bikes, the Total Restoration Team is proud to be riding such world class proven bicycles. The team will be riding Tarmac S-Works, Tarmac Pro, and Transition TT road bikes, and wearing Specialized helmets, glasses, shoes, and gloves.
