Toronto Bike Show \’09 – New Products #1

March 19, 2009 (Toronto, ON) – The 2009 Toronto Bicycle Show held March 13-15 in the Direct Energy Building at the CNE was a success. Two very busy initial days were followed by a slower final day due to excellent weather that likely saw many inspired cycling enthusiasts outside on their bikes. Here’s a look at some of the hot new products on display at the show.

Louis Garneau’s Sonix 6.4 Pro is their top-end road bike featuring a full Mono HM carbon frame and complete Dura-Ace components and wheels with an SRP of $4,999.

On display at the Trek Toronto booth was Alberto Contador’s hot TREK Madone 6.9 Pro bike with SRAM Red Group that Contador used to win the 2008 Vuelta d’Espana and Giro d’Italia.

Argon’s E-114 won 1st prize for industrial design in 2007 from the Institut de Design de Montreal and first prize in the “Speed Bike” category at the Eurobike Design Award 2008 in Germany. Team Planet Energy’s ride the frame retails for $3,899 and complete bikes range from $4,999 to $9,399.

The KHS DJ05 single speed bike comes with pivotal saddle and seat post, Kenda K-Rad Tires, oversized/reinforced 6061 AL frame and 3-piece Cromoly cranks for $639.

Shimano’s new M310 MTB Custom Fit shoes feature full length stiff carbon soles for efficient power transfer, custom heat moldable uppers for a precise custom fit, and an anti-slip heel lining knitted with metal fiber to prevent heel lift for $589. Shimano’s R310 Custom Fit road shoe offers a curved anatomical last for natural shoe-to-foot interface, ultra-light overlapped unidirectional carbon fiber outside for efficient power transfer and heat moldable uppers for precise custom fit.
