New Canadian Men’s Record Set at TISSOT Track World Cup Milton Team Pursuit Qualifications + PHOTOS

October 25, 2018 (Milton, ON) – Both Canadian Team Pursuit squads advanced and a new record was set by the men as Round 2 of the TISSOT Track World Cup 2018/19 got underway at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton.

Michael Foley, Derek Gee, Adam Jamieson and Jay Lamoureax hit the boards setting a new Canadian Men’s Team Pursuit record of 3:56.931 en route to fourth overall in the qualifications and advanced to the First Round. The same foursome beat their previous record by 1.428 seconds set at last year’s Milton World Cup.

Canada’s Pedal 2 the Medal development team composed of Evan Burtnik, Vincent De Haitre, Chris Ernst and Tristan Guillemette finished 13th. Huub Waatbike Test Team set the fastest qualifying time and will face off against Canada in the First Round.

Earlier the Canadian Women’s Team Pursuit squad consisting of Ariane Bonhomme Annie Foreman-Mackey Kinley Gibson Stephanie Roorda, the defending Milton champs, qualified fifth fastest and will race the First Round against Japan. Canada’s Pedal 2 the Medal development NextGen team including Miriam Brouwer, Devaney Collier, Laurie Jussaume and Katherine Maine finished 12th.

On Friday, Oct. 26, six medal events will take place, including the Team Pursuit finals, Team Sprint finals for both women and men, plus the women’s and men’s Scratch Races.

Qualification Rule:
The eight teams recording the best times in the qualifying round will be matched in the First round as follows:
The 6th fastest team against the 7th fastest team.
The 5th fastest team against the 8th fastest team.
The 2nd fastest team against the 3rd fastest team.
The fastest team against the 4th fastest team.
The winners of heats 3 and 4 in the First round ride the final for the gold and silver medals.
The remaining six teams will be ranked by their times in the First round and will be paired as follows:
The two fastest teams ride the final for the bronze medal
