Tino Rossi Inducted into Quebec Sports Hall of Fame

November 26, 2010 (Montreal, QC) – Joseph “Tino” Rossi, the founder of the Mardis Lachine crit races in Montreal, was among seven people inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Rossi founded the Mardis cyclistes Lachine series in 1978 and has stayed with the event ever since although Marc-Wayne Addison now shares organizational duties there. A short biography posted at The Quebec Sports Hall of Fame blog notes Rossi’s perseverance and passion for the sport.

Others present for the induction ceremony were Caroll-Ann Alie (windsurfing), Jean-Marie Banos (fencing), Jean-Paul Banos (fencing), Red Fisher (sports jounalism) Danielle Goyette (women’s hockey), and Régent LaCoursière (swimming). Former hockey star, Mario Lemieux, who was also inducted on Wednesday, had to stay in Pittsburgh and missed the event in Montreal according to Canoe.
