Tim Hortons Road Nationals 2004 – Criterium

June 26, 2004 – Hometown team Symmetrics put in an outstanding tour de force today, taking the top three spots in the elite men’s race, and the top two in the women’s . Cam Evans soloed away from a break midway through the race, eventually lapping the field, followed by Svein Tuft and Andrew Pinfold (all Symmetrics). Mandy Poitras launched to victory in the women’s race, followed by Marni Prazsky and BC’s Lisa Sweeny.

After the race, Pinfold said, “things went well for us, for sure. Cam got into the move, then Will Routley bridged up. Cam launched again, got pretty far ahead and then we brought back the break, setting it up for the finish. Our manager, Kevin Cunningham, is really pleased with both the men’s and the women’s race, and coupled with the time trial, is feeling really good about the races thus far. I think we can have a great ride tomorrow too, so here’s hoping.”
