August 2, 2002 (Woodstock, Ontario) – For the sixth consecutive year, Tim
Hortons is proud to be the title sponsor of the Canadian National Cycling
Championships, which includes the upcoming road nationals being held in
Woodstock from August 8th to 11th.

Championship hopefuls to watch for at the
competition include Eric Wohlberg of Levack ON, and Lyne Bessette of
Knowlton QC, who both competed at the 2000 Olympic Games, and are defending
2001 National Champions. Bessette also is a 2002 Commonwealth Games
medallist. In addition, Geneviève Jeanson of Lachine QC will be racing, and
Mark Walters of Blackstock ON will be looking to defend his 2001 National
Champion title in the elite men’s road race.

“All of the staff in the Woodstock stores are very excited to host the
upcoming road nationals and to cheer on our Canadian cyclists at their
races,” said Tim Hortons store owner Leslie Farrell. “We also have entry
forms in all of our stores and at the Woodstock Community Complex for the
‘Timbits Challenge’, which invites local children to ride the actual course
with some of their heroes. It’s a lot of fun for the kids who all get medals
and treats, just for participating!”

Since Tim Hortons began its sponsorship of the Canadian Cycling Team in
1996, team members have been the focus of numerous national promotions and
advertising campaigns. This summer, national team posters will be in all
Canadian Tim Hortons stores. Customers in the Woodstock, Tilsonburg and
London areas will also notice tray liners specifically promoting the
upcoming road nationals in their city.

“We are always so proud to generate any exposure we can for the tremendous
athletes on our national cycling teams,” said Marcia Stewart, National
Promotions Manager, The TDL Group Ltd. (operators of Tim Hortons). “People
are continuing to catch on to the excitement of the three cycling
disciplines, (Road, Mountain and Track) and the National Championships, in
particular, are a great way for Canadians to get a taste of these world
class events in their own backyards.”

Tim Hortons is Canada’s largest coffee and baked goods chain with over 2,000
locations across the country and more than 140 stores in the United States.
