July 19, 2003 (Whistler, BC) – Max Plaxton (Gears Racing) and Emily Batty (Bay Cycle/Fox Racing) are the new National Champions in their respective categories, Junior U17 Expert 15-18. Plaxton broke away early in his three and a half lap race, and held on for the win. Batty had a challenging race, leading the pack early on and opening up a minute and a half. But she crashed and move down five places. Over the next two laps the young rider (15 years old) moved up steadily, rider by rider, back into first place for the win. Full story to follow.
