July 18, 2004 (Mt. Ste-Anne, Que.) — It was getting hotter and muggier late this morning as the elite riders tore down the winding 1.7-kilometre downhill course for their seeding runs. Mathieu Laurin (Iron Horse/Mad Catz) and Michelle Dumaresq (Santa Cruz/NSMB) put in the fastest runs so far in the men`s and women`s races. There are 62 competitors in the men`s race and only eight women.

Course conditions were still super slick due to torrential downpours earlier in the week, and things aren`t going to be drying out at all today.
