Here’s a reminder that this weekend, July 19-21 in beautiful British
Columbia, the 2002 Tim Hortons Mountain Bike National Championships are
taking place. Both Cross-Country and Downhill racers will be battling it
out on the slopes of Sun Peaks Resort, near Kamloops, through mud, over
rocks, vying for the title of National Champion. Current World Champion
Roland Green of Victoria will be defending his 2001 National Champion title
in the Elite Men’s Cross-Country race, along with Commonwealth Games team
members Geoff Kabush and Seamus McGrath. Other Commonwealth Games team
members who will be racing include Chrissy Redden, Kiara Bisaro and
Marie-Helene Premont, all looking to blast their way onto the top of the
podium, in place of 3-time World Champion Alison Sydor, who won the Elite
Women’s Cross-Country race last year. www.canadiancycling.ca
