July 21, 2012 (Chartres, France) – With only one stage to go at the Tour de France the final jerseys will be awarded in Paris on July 22nd and while Bradley Wiggins (Gbr) Sky Procycling has locked up the yellow jersey the other classifications are also highly coveted as prize possessions.
Team Europcar’s Thomas Voeckler (Fra) is poised to take home the famous Mountain Polka Dot Jersey and readers will recall our interview with Pierre Perron, the Global Marketing Director for Louis Garneau Group, who shared some of the behind-the-scene scrambling that WorldTour sponsors go thru during the Tour – read more HERE. At first it looked like Pierre Rolland was going to make a run for the Polka Dot Jersey after his stellar win on Stage 11. But Voeckler, who was in yellow for 10 days at last year’s Tour, captured his second victory on Stage 16 from Pau to Bagnères-de-Luchon to claim the stage win as well as the Polka Dot jersey – turning the tables on Garneau avec plaisir. The scrambling began again for Perron and his team – pictured above are Voeckler’s gloves ready for the TT stage in Chartres – hand delivered by Perron and Louis Garneau himself… “Louis and I are going to meet the team in Chartres and give Thomas his polka dot gloves to complete his kit – check it during the TT and in Paris,” Perron told Pedal.
