December 3, 2006 – We are following some stories and should have more news during the upcoming week. Rumours about a new Specialized-Nobili women’s team in Quebec look to be true as there’s a press conference scheduled for Friday, Dec. 8 in Montreal. Check back to find who is riding for the new team following the conference when Gérard Penarroya and Walter Ricci Petitoni, the new team’s directeur sportifs, will reveal the roster.
At the same press conference more news is coming regarding the new UCI-sanctioned women’s Tour of PEI that we mentioned some time ago. An official announcement will be made by race president Daniel Manibal and by Michel Le Chasseur, general director of the Confederation Bridge which links PEI to New Brunswick and is purported to be part of the route.
We also expect further news in the near future from Manibal regarding the new 8-stage Montreal-Boston race, such as the exact itinerary.
According to Veloptimum, Volkswagen-Trek will make an official announcement about its 2007 roster this week.
Both Martin Gilbert and Dominique Perras are not returning to Kodakgallery.com and hope to be riding together in 2007. We understand there will be an announcement in the coming days.
David Veilleux is expected to ride with Jittery Joe’s in 2007, as previously announced by Pedal, and confirmation of this should be soon according to Veloptimum which also states that Audrey Lemieux will likely be riding for Team Expressvue.com (formerly Biovail) to be announced in January 2007.
