The XTERRA Canada Off-Road Triathlon Comes To Ontario

July 9, 2004 – Triathlon doesn’t know what it’s in for this summer! The widely popular XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon is coming to the Guelph Lake Conservation Area in Guelph, Ontario this July 17-18. The perfect blend of superior athleticism and adventure sports, XTERRA is THE RACE for the triathlete with an edge.

“We are pumped about the first XTERRA Canada – Guelph race!” said Guelph’s Promotions & Race Compound Manager, John Yip. “I’ve competed in a lot of different sports: from adventure racing to road running. I can honestly say this is the perfect test of athletic ability and I still get an adrenalin rush. You can’t ask for anything more.”

XTERRA is now the fastest-growing multi-sport event in the world. The sport is a combination of the laid-back style and bold self-assurance of mountain bikers, and the hard-core training and avid dedication of triathletes. XTERRA creators, Hawaii based Team Unlimited, discovered a common spirit and attitude that pulled them together. An off-road triathlon, starts with a 1,500-metre swim, followed by a 28-kilometre mountain bike and finishes with a 10-kilometre trail run. For first-time racers, or those a little unsure of the off-road element, there is a half-distance course available, the XTERRA Sport.

The XTERRA Canada – Guelph event is shaping up to be an action-packed weekend.
