The 4th Annual Toronto Criterium Bike Race – This Sunday, May 29th

May 27, 2011 (Toronto, ON) – Kicking off Toronto’s Bike to Work month, the City of Toronto, Mayor Rob Ford, The Ontario Cycling Association, and organizer ZM Cycle Fitness invite you to attend Toronto’s premier bicycle race in the heart of the vibrant St. Lawrence Market.

A variety of events, for all ages, take place between 8am and 1pm. The main event, the Elite Pro/Am race, starts at 11:15am for a heart pounding 90 minutes. Think spin class at 60km/hr!

Future Tour De France stars, the 3-10 year olds, race at 11:00-11:15am for the ‘thrill of victory and the agony of defeat’.

The criterium bike race is held on a closed loop in the St. Lawrence Market Streets. Toronto’s long heritage of bike racing goes back to 1894 when the city hosted the annual Dunlop Trophy Race attracting riders from across North America.

Admission is free and with up to $20,000 in prizes the races will be fast, exciting and fun for all.

When:  Sunday May 29th from 8am to 1pm – main event starts at 11:15am
Where:  St. Lawrence Market – start/finish on Front St. just east of Scott Street
Why:  Because bike racing is fun!
