May 18, 2013 (Bardonecchia, Italy) – We tackled the 168km Stage 14 yesterday featured in this edition of Ted’s Giro d’Italia Challenge which finished with a climb up to Jafferau, a 7km ascent averaging about 9% with a few 14% bites near the end – ouch. Ted was visibly tired from yesterday’s big 254km effort (Stage 13) but made it through the day.

We are now in Bardonecchia and there is a real buzz in town with cycling fans getting ready to see the finish near here tomorrow.

We leave early to climb both the Telegraphe and Galibier. It seems however that there is a lot of snow on the Galibier and getting to the top might  not be possible. We will deal with each km as it comes.

Ted’s Giro d’Italia Challenge features London, Ontario’s Velikonja, a First Vice President at CIBC Wood Gundy, who is continuing his goal to ride all of the Grand Tours.

Velikonja has already completed the Tour de France and is now back on track to tackle the Giro with his two domestiques Pedal‘s Tim Lefebvre and Christopher Balogh.
