May 16, 2013 (Treviso, Italy) – In this edition of Ted’s Giro d’Italia Challenge the crew took in Stage 12 from Longarone to Treviso, 134km, a short but beautiful ride. There were two very steep bumps, otherwise it was flat. Ted rode strong in his official Paul Smith-designed red jersey for the most courageous rider, leaving us on the climb in the first 5km.

Along the way Tim broke his chain on the second incline and we had to leave him behind for Rudy and the van. We never saw him again as the sweeping descents and beautiful roads took us right into Treviso where we all met up again.

Ted’s Giro d’Italia Challenge features London, Ontario’s Velikonja, a First Vice President at CIBC Wood Gundy, who is continuing his goal to ride all of the Grand Tours.

Velikonja has already completed the Tour de France and is now back on track to tackle the Giro with his two domestiques Pedal‘s Tim Lefebvre and Christopher Balogh.
