Team Ultralink in Hotlanta

April 30, 2007 – Team Ultralink made its permanent mark onto the women’s professional road cycling map this weekend at the NRC Twilight series in Athens and Roswell Georgia. Aggressive riding, astute positioning and representation in all of the main breaks was on the team menu. Team Ultralink has come out of the closet and its ringing the cash register bell.

Friday was a school work day for me and then a trip straight onto my flight for Atlanta for more schoolin’.

In Athens I wasn’t sure if I was losing my religion or headed into the love shack. My first race of the season was to be a hot and steamy afair with pin-tight corners, thousands of spectators, a bowl of grits, tasty corn bread and a bath of lactic acid.

While enjoying my swim through low pH plasma I was able to remove my northern lips from my Cervelo’s stem to view the other party at the front of the peleton. The Ultralink red and black was at the pointy end of the race courtesy of my teammates, Kele Murdin and Shontelle Guathier. The Ultralink engines were burning hot down in Georgia.

Ms. Murdin decided to rip legs off, win 5 primes and represent the red and black in the decisive break. Ultralink’s Louisiana pocket rocket, Ms. Gauthier also contributed to filling the team cash register with a 5 th in the speedy bunch finish. My body came around for the Roswell crit the next day and all three of us were ringing the cash register bell with Gauthier heading for yet another top 10 BMX style finish.

Big thanks go out to our hosts John and Wanda, Alexis Sheehy our single race staff member, Allen Sung of Ultralink products and Cervelo – and a big additional thanks to my teammates for a great weekend of early racing. Look for more from Team Ultralink this week in the SE crit series and at the Joe Martin stage race.
