July 16, 2002, (Montréal, Québec) – Amy Jarvis, Manon Jutras and Gail
Longenecker of the RONA Cycling Team were in the spotlight during last
weekend in races held in the Vancouver, B.C. and Boulder, CO, areas.

Jarvis & Jutras on the Podium

Amy Jarvis and Manon Jutras entered the Tour de Delta, held near
Vancouver. The three-stage race included a hillclimb Friday, July 12; a
criterium Saturday; and a road race July 14. Amy Jarvis finished third in
the crit, behind Kristy Scrymgeour and Kim Davidge, both of the
Saturn/Timex team.

Sunday, in the 88-km race (8 laps around an 8-km course), Manon Jutras
broke away during the second lap. She completed the longest breakaway of
her career and finished with a 7 minutes plus lead over Kim
Davidge. Davidge finished first overall in the Tour de Delta General
Classification, awarded according to points and not cumulative time. Jarvis
finished fifth in GC.

Longenecker Wins at Boulder

Meanwhile, Gail Longenecker won the Mike Morgan Memorial Hill Climb near
Boulder, Colorado. This is a difficult 350km climb with a 10-km segment
where the slope is 12-15% together with stretches of dirt road. Longenecker
reached the top of Mount Eldora with a 1:30 lead over her closest rival,
Kate Furze of Pro Peloton.
