August 26, (Vancouver, BC) – Team Kappa racers Lisa Sweeney and Leah
Goldstein dominated this past weekend’s BC Provincial Criterium
Championship in North Vancouver. Sweeney was the
first to attack, quickly opening a gap on the pack on the 1.7 km, 6-corner
course. She held off the hard charging pack for the first 5 laps, setting
up teammate Goldstein perfectly as Leah launched an attack of her own once Lisa
was caught. Tired from the chase of Lisa, none of the other racers could
respond to Leah’s move, and she quickly built up a sizable gap. Sweeney tried
several times to bridge up to her teammate, but with one Kappa racer
already up the road, the pack was watching Lisa very closely.

Leah eventually lapped the field to secure her second Championship win in
as many weeks. With 2 laps to go Leah went to the front to set up the
sprint for Lisa. Leah’s leadout worked perfectly, first helping Lisa to
win the final prime with 1 lap to go, then another perfect leadout allowed
Lisa to win the pack sprint and take the silver medal.

Kappa women have now swept the BC Provincial Road, Time Trial and Criterium
Championships thanks to their perfect teamwork and determination!

Next up for the Kappa Cycling Team is the UCI World Mountain Bike
Championships, Kaprun, Austria, August 31-September 1.
