Tara Whitten Track World Cup Correction

November 5, 2008 – We recently reported that Tara Whitten’s silver in the women’s Individual Pursuit at the 2008/09 UCI Track World Cup Series opener in Manchester, Great Britain, may have been the first Canadian women’s track world cup podium performance since Mandy Poitras won the inaugural World Cup scratch race in 2002.

But in fact Canadian Olympic gold medalist, Lori-Ann Muenzer scored bronze in 2005 at the Sydney World Cup in the women’s 500m TT, one of 11 career World Cup podiums. Meanwhile, Whitten followed up her silver in the Individual Pursuit with a silver in the women’s Scratch race to add more icing to the cake. Top trackie Gina Grain has not yet medalled at a World Cup but has knocked on the door placing 4th on several occasions. Apologies and congrats all round…
