February 23, 2012 (Taiwan) – With this year’s Taipei Cycle Show a few short weeks away, Pedal continues its series on companies making a name for themselves in the Taiwanese bicycle industry. Now in it’s 25th year, Taipei Cycle is one of the ‘big three’ bicycle trade shows and takes place from March 7-10 at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei, Taiwan. More than 1,000 exhibitors have registered for the show and total demand is now approaching a show record of 4,000 booths.

DK City
DK City was founded in 1987 and has quickly grown into a company with four factories and one warehouse in both Taiwan and China. With 25 years of OEM and ODM experience in electric mechanisms, DK City continues to offer customized solutions for prospective buyers around the world focusing its efforts on three main categories; Housewares, Fitness Equipment, and Electric-powered mobility.

They are probably best known for their efforts in the field of fitness equipment, which includes both the Total Gym 1000 and the Torso Track. While fitness equipment accounts for more than 80% of their total sales, E-bikes now make up 5% and they are hoping to improve upon this.

DK City’s new venture is the dbO (dbZero) electric bicycle, which is a joint project between DK City and American design studio ROBRADY. The dbO  boasts an intergrated pedal-assistance system, easy-to-operate control interface and unique folding mechanism. The battery is interesting as it’s round shape allows it to be housed within the folding mechanism, integrating completely within the bike frame. The bike takes only two seconds to fold down into a compact state and features an innovative single front fork, single chain stay and powerful DC hub motor. The dbO has been awarded seven international design awards and passed the strict European EPAC safety standard.

T-One
T-One was established by their parent company Thunder Graphic Corporation in 2007 and is made up of experienced engineers, designers and marketing people who all had an interest in the cycling industry. In 2008 they launched their first products, a folding tool and adjustable bottle cage. In the years since, they have continued to release innovative new products that have been honored with various design awards.

In addition to developing their own brand, T-One takes on ODM and design work for other companies. T-One firmly believes that design is best used to solve problems and because of this their  philosophy is ‘Creation for Solution’. This mantra certainly shows through in all of their products.

The T-One Anyway water bottle cage is a lightweight (24g) aluminum bottle cage which his able to hold the bottle in a wide range of angles. It is the perfect cage for both right- and- left- handed people as well as a great solution for small frames, on which compact geometry makes pulling the bottle straight out of the cage a tight squeeze. T-One produces a range of handlebar grips for every different need as well as a complete and well thought-out range of multi tools.
