October 2, 2006 (Bonn Germany) – Giant Bicycles recently announced that it has signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with the T-Mobile Team, which operates on behalf of mobile communications leader, T-Mobile International. The agreement with management company High Road Sports Inc. spans an unprecedented four-year term with Giant’s goal to further its product development initiatives through close relationships with both the men’s and women’s T-Mobile squads. Furthermore, the agreement highlights Giant’s continued long-standing commitment to the sport of professional road cycling.
This powerful partnership provides Giant the necessary input in its relentless quest to produce the fastest bicycles in the pro peloton. With a four-year agreement, Giant will now be able to foster long-term collaboration between its product development staff and these world-class athletes””working together to produce technologies that will eventually trickle-down to the retail showroom floor.
As the only major brand that produces its bicycles from raw material to finished form, Giant designers and engineers are able to work directly with athletes to produce the most advanced technological developments in cycling. The prime example of this close-knit relationship is the 2007 TCR Advanced Team, a bike born out the close collaboration with the T-Mobile Team””including 2005 and Three Time World TT Champion Michael Rogers. 2008 prototype design work has already commenced and team testing will begin in early 2007.
Commenting on this expanded relationship, Giant CEO, Tony Lo stated, “Giant’s spirit of innovation, technology leadership and passion for cycling lives on with our renewed long-term partnership with T-Mobile. Real world testing by world-class athletes is an important step in Giant’s product development process, and our collaboration with the T-Mobile Teams give us feedback straight from the peloton to our designers and engineers.”
T-Mobile Team General Manager Bob Stapleton added, “We demand the best and most innovative bikes our riders, and Giant’s proprietary technologies and manufacturing capabilities have exceeded our expectations the past three years.
