May 3, 2007 – Zach Bell has taken the seventh stage at the Vuelta a El Salvador in a stage described as riding in “Hells Kitchen”.
Yesterday, after about 100km of racing in the extreme heat, the Colombian team began a long chase to bring back some lesser riders who broke clear. With 15km remaining, the chase came apart and the S-Team went to the front and finished the job. After a perfect yellow-and-black lead out to a very hot and tired lead group, Bell took a convincing win with Symmetrics’ Andrew Pinfold placing second.
That’s another 17 UCI points, making a grand total of 85 for the week. Today’s Stage 8 is a massive one with lots of climbing and could be the most decisive stage of all.
