Symmetrics Signs Giga-Bike/La-Z-Boy\’s Britton for Tour of Qinghai Lake

May 30, 2006 – Symmetrics Cycling has committed to a stagiaire opportunity with Team Giga-Bike/La-Z-Boy. This opportunity will see Team Giga-Bike/La-Z-Boy Co-Captain Rob Britton suit-up with Symmetrics and race for them as a guest rider at the Tour of Qinghai Lake, China, July 15-23, 2006.

“I am thrilled to be joining Symmetrics Cycling at the Tour of Qinghai Lake this July. Only a few years ago I was racing my bike around Saskatchewan, now I’m off to China with the number one team in the country! There is no way this would have happened without the forming of the Giga Bike/La-Z-Boy development team. With the help I’ve had from everyone on this team it really seems like anything is possible.” Rob Britton, Co-Captain – Giga Bike/La-Z-Boy

Team Giga-Bike/La-Z-Boy is Vancouver Islands only trade cycling team dedicated to the development of young athletes in Junior and Espoir competition series. Team Giga-Bike/La-Z-Boy participates year round in Road Bike events in Victoria, and Vancouver, British Columbia circuits.

“This is a dream come true. First and foremost, we are able to see one of our espoir riders race on a professional team, in a foreign country, against other UCI pro teams. On a second note, as a Junior Espoir Development team our primary goal is to move our young riders onto pro teams. By participating in stagiaires, such as with Symmetrics, we are that much closer to realizing our goals as a team. Giga-Bike/La-Z-Boy is very excited to see Rob go to China, while we know we still have a strong team in BC competing for the FloraGLO Lutein BC Cup Series,” says Calvin Straathof, Giga-Bike President
