Symmetrics Scores Again in El Salvador – Cam Evans Wins Stage 6

May 1, 2007 – More good news from the S-Team in El Salvador. Cam Evans took a brilliant solo win in a move that put almost five minutes on the field. Although we don’t now the time gaps yet, we can say that Cam finished solo on a tough cat 3 climb. After yesterday’s tough climb that had the team riding defensively to preserve Randell’s jersey, a decision was made today to go on the attack and put the pressure on the others.

On Stage 5 yesterday, Symmetrics rode tempo, allowing a few breaks to dangle before the final climb in which Tuft and Randell finished near the front, with Randell keeping his jersey by 20 seconds.

With Evans away, the team could let the Mexicans and Columbians do most of the chasing, allowing Randell to sit in and save his legs for tomorrow.

That’s another 12 UCI points for Canada by way of Symmetrics Cycling. The teams total for the race is now 68 points and still counting. Canada’s total stands now at 327, and there’s plenty more stages to go!
