Superior Glass 4 Day presented by Wolfe Auto Group – Night 2 Report, Results

release by the Superior Glass 4 Day

December 29, 2012 (Burnaby, BC) – Martin Vecchio, 26 from Detroit, MI was known to be a decent rider and had some credentials coming into the Superior Glass 4 Day presented by Wolfe Auto Group but he has show over the two nights of racing so far that he is the dominant force in the race. Vecchio took out the feature 120 lap points race by lapping the field with three others. It was an impressive ride from young local Kyle Buckosky who took second and was forced to bridge half a lap solo up to Vecchio, Dylan Davies and Emile de Rosnay whereupon the 4 then lapped the field. The results tonight also saw Garmin Sharp rider Tyler Farrar miss the crucial move and drop into a tie for third in the overall with deRosnay.

2012 Olympic bronze medallist Gillian Carleton and Pan Am Games gold medallist Steph Roorda again dominated the women’s Madison taking a lap and winning all the sprints. Claire Cameron and Erin “Gumdrop”Glover were the only team able to stay equal on laps with the young duo of Kinley Gibson and Maggie Coles-Lyster hanging on in third a lap down with the other teams nipping at their heels.

Scott Mulder had to contend with 5 different fast men tonight in a sprint exhibition. He faced Andrew Grant and then Albert Dunford in succession then after a break it was Edward Reid and Jamie Shankland. Those 4 were dispatched but not without some difficulty as a rerdie was necessary with Shankland due to a lane violation. Finally it all came down to a one man ride off against fastest challenger Kelyn Akuna. In the end Mulder proved too much vanquishing all challengers.

There was some impressive racing in the B’s, C’s and Youth Men with James Hilyer, Stephen Hilyer and Logan Simonson continuing to lead their categories respectively.

Racing resumes Saturday night with live band Columbia entertaining. See full details here.
