Subaru Official Vehicle For Wachovia Series

March 3, 2004 – Threshold Sports, LLC, event producers of the Wachovia Cycling Series, announced today that Subaru will be the Official Vehicle of the 2004 Wachovia Cycling Series in Lancaster, PA, Trenton, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA, June 1-6. Subaru vehicles will serve as the Race Pace Cars and Official Vehicles in the Series. On Sunday, June 6, Subaru will also sponsor the Subaru Master the Mountain challenge.

“We are excited to partner with the Wachovia Cycling Series and show our increasing commitment to the sport,” said Tim Bennett, director, marketing programs, Subaru of America, Inc. “Subaru has a long history of supporting cycling enthusiasts and the organizations and events that are important to them.”

The Subaru Master the Mountain challenge awards the best climber of the Manayunk Wall in the Wachovia USPRO Championship. Riders accumulate points based upon their placing over the Manayunk Wall each lap. The rider that accumulates the most points at the conclusion of the race will win a cash prize.

The 2004 Wachovia Cycling Series celebrates its 20th year of professional international cycling in Philadelphia, and features more than 200 of the world's top professional cyclists descending upon the streets of Lancaster, Trenton, and Philadelphia. Now in its 20th year, the Wachovia USPRO Championship is the longest running and richest single-day cycling race in the U.S. The Wachovia Cycling Series is part of the Pro Cycling Tour – the national, all-professional racing series. The Wachovia Cycling Series and the PCT are managed by Threshold Sports and sanctioned by USA Cycling. Threshold Sports is an event marketing and management firm that focuses on the commercial development of the sport of cycling and organizes elite professional bicycle races in the U.S.
