Steve Merker is OCA’s Acting E.D.

May 5, 2003 – The Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) announces the hiring of Mr. Steve Merker as the new Acting Executive Director. The Board of Directors of the OCA are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Steve Merker (former Vice President of Trilife Sports International) as the Acting Executive Director.

The position of Executive Director has been vacant for the last four years while the OCA re-developed its internal infrastructure. Now that the organization is on stronger footing due to the hard work of the Board and the current staff, the OCA is positioned to take the next step in organizational proficiency.

Mr. Merker brings a diversity of experience to the OCA. For the last seven years, he has been involved developing the 24 Hours of Adrenalin into the largest mountain bike event series in North America. Personally, he has competed in triathlon, adventure racing, competitive swimming, including several mountain bike and road cycling events. The Board of Directors believe that Mr. Merker's outlook from both an athlete and businessperson's perspective will bring much value to the organization.

The first few months of Mr. Merker's tenure at the OCA will involve an in depth information gathering process. He can be reached at smerker@ontariocycling.org.
