March 3, 2005 – SRAM-branded athletes had a phenomenal 2004, which included 76 Olympic, World, World Cup, National and NORBA championship gold medals. The SRAM roster for 2005 will again be loaded with talent as SRAM’s aim remains fixed on the top step of the podium.
The 2005 line-up includes current World and Olympic Cross-Country Champions Gunn-Rita Dahle (Merida-Multivan) and Julien Absalon (Bianchi). Dahle will ride SRAM drivetrain and Absalon will feature SRAM, RockShox suspension and Avid brakes. Reigning U.S. XC and STXC National Champion Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski (Subaru-Gary Fisher) will once again be lining up on SRAM, RockShox, and Avid componentry, albeit on a new team. The youth movement is certainly evident in the young Swiss Nino Schurter (Swisspower), a future star and current Junior XC World Champion. Schurter will ride SRAM and Avid in “˜05.
Other notables include downhiller extraordinaire and “˜04 World Cup Champion Steve Peat (Royal Orange). Peaty will again be riding SRAM and RockShox. Gravity favorite and Four-Cross World Champion Eric Carter (Hyundai-Mongoose) will be riding the full SRAM, RockShox, Avid and Truvativ kit this season.
Traditional powerhouse teams to feature SRAM brands include Bianchi, Commencal, Merida, Santa Cruz Syndicate, Scott, Specialized, Trek-Volkswagen and the new-look Subaru-Gary Fisher and Ford Cycling teams.
The two recent additions to the SRAM brand family include Avid brakes and Truvativ cranks. These acquisitions add high-performance braking and drivetrain elements that complete the mountain bike component puzzle for one of the world’s top suppliers to the industry. SRAM is: SRAM shifters, derailleurs, chains and cassettes, RockShox suspension, Avid brakes, Truvativ cranks, bottom brackets, stems, handlebars, and seatposts.
