Spring Series Offers Great Prizes For Its Points Race

March 12, 2005 – Last weekend British Columbia’s best climbers had an opportunity to showcase their talents; this weekend it is the sprinters chance for a little glory and some great prizes.

This Saturday March 12th the Devo/Powerbar Spring Series returns to its River Road course for a points race. Results, photos and report from last weekend’s races are available at http://www.escapevelocity.bc.ca/ss2005_results.html.

Every points lap has a great prize attached to it from our sponsors. Bicycle Sports Pacific, World Class Bikes, has donated gift certificates and other great swag to give everyone a little bit more motivation. SISU, Release Your Inner Strength, offers tubs of Whey Protein Powder and Hydrate energy drink to keep you going. Powerbar, Be Great, has cases of Powerbars, Power Gels, and ProteinPlus bars on the table. Ryders Eyewear has provided us with some great sunglasses to keep you moving. Taco Del Mar, Release Your Inner Baja, have their famous mondo tacos and burritos for the provinces fastest. These sponsors contribute a lot to British Columbia’s cycling community please support them when ever possible.

Here is how it works: Points will be up for grabs every 2 laps. Points go three deep with the winner taking 4 points and second and third taking 2 and 1 respectively. Double points on the last lap. Overall winners are the ones who have the most points at the end of the day.

We are recycling our only flat course along River Road, near historic Fort Langley. To get there take Highway 1 to 264th St. head south. Left on River Road to the start area at 256 and River Road.

On Sunday Racers will be challenged by the constant rollers our course in Bradner. This course has been used for several years for the BC Provincial Masters Championships and always manages to tear groups up early.

To get there take Highway 1 to 264th St. head north. Make a quick right onto 56th Ave. Left on Bradner St. Start area is at Mctavish Ave. and Bradner St.

Sign on starts at 9:00am and closes at 10:15am for both days. Racing begins at 10:30am. Licenses are mandatory for all races; one day licenses from Cycling British Columbia are available. For first time racers entry is $26 for repeat racers its $21.
