Sporting Life Fitness Challenge

October 20, 2003 – Let's show the other sports that Cycling has some of the fittest athletes in the province! All OCA members & affiliates aged 6-19 are invited to participate in this free event on the floor of Skydome.

What: Sporting Life Fitness Challenge – Crowning Ontario's Fittest Sport (Click here to view the Fitness Testing Protocol)

Where: SkyDome, Toronto, Ontario

When: Sunday, October 26th, 2003 (8:00am – 5:00pm)

Who: Ontario Athletes aged 6 – 19 will face off in unique fitness tests to determine who the fittest sport in Ontario is.

Confirmed participating sports include: Alpine Skiing, Cycling, Archery, Basketball, Boxing, Fencing, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Rowing, Snowboarding, Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field and Water Polo.

Why: Athletes will be tested by physical fitness professionals using industry standard tests that measure an athletes overall fitness ability.

Cost: This event is FREE and open only to members of participating provincial sport organizations.

Register: Register online before Friday, October 24th.

Highlights: Three time Olympic Gold Medalist Marnie McBean will be at the event to deliver motivational messages to the participating athletes. World Record Distance Swimmer Vicki Keith and 'Hurricane' Helen Kelesi will also be at the event to deliver their motivational messages. Former National Ski Team Member Todd Brooker will also be at the event to commentate the activity.
